DJ Jack Money

After leaving an event where DJ Jackmoney was spinning on the 1’s and 2’s you can rest assured that greatly skilled DJs still exist. Gregory “DJ Jackmoney” Jackson, who hails from Chicago, is one of Atlanta’s best DJs because he knows what good music is and can put songs together to provide a feel good atmosphere.

DJ Jackmoney took a few moments out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions in regards to DJ-ing.

WG: How long have you been in the business?

DJ Jackmoney: I’ve been in this business for 24 years.

WG: Would you say that being a DJ is a saturated market? With the release
of DJ Hero on Xbox and PSP, is it for everybody?

DJ Jackmoney: Not really. Those game systems have just kept up the curiosity of being a DJ alive & well.

WG: Are we (the universal we) beyond the days of traditional cutting and
scratching? Has technology stolen a bit of the DJ's thunder?

DJ Jackmoney: Technology has robbed us of all of the SKILL it takes to be a DJ among other things. Just like the Hip Hop industry as a whole has been watered down so has the significance of the DJ. Technology will never replace knowing how to feel a crowd, and know what they want before they even ask.

WG: Where would you like your craft to take you in the future?

DJ Jackmoney: I have traveled the world DJing parties, weddings, clubs, concerts, etc. I would like to see a DJ reality show (similar to American Idol) as well as open up a DJ basic course for young people that would teach the art of DJing from the beginning...the turntable & the Vinyl.

With the love and dedication that DJ Jackmoney and other true DJs have for DJing the significance of the DJ will more than likely have resurgence.
